Frequently Asked Questions

What is your weather policy?

What if the forecast predicts rain for the day of my appointment?

If it is not raining, our policy is to complete the window washing job as scheduled providing all safety and working conditions can be maintained. If precipitation is light, in many cases we will proceed as scheduled because rain does not affect the cleaning process. In the event heavy rain occurs, outside window washing work will be re-scheduled for the next available day. All inside work is completed as scheduled to avoid disrupting your busy calendar.

What if the forecast predicts high winds for the day of my appointment?

Safety is always our number one priority. Our standard states that we can work in up to 20 mph sustained winds, however, we seldom allow work to continue in such conditions. Our technician will evaluate the wind on site and determine if safety or quality will be compromised. Depending on the size and location of your home/building, we may be able to continue work out of the wind. You will be contacted with scheduling updates and cancelations as needed.

What if the forecast predicts cold temperatures for the day of my appointment?

Believe it or not, there are very few days where temperatures or weather conditions are an issue. We are open year-round, and can provide window washing services outdoors in very low temperatures. Don’t let the cold stop you from having clean windows. You deserve a clear view, and our technicians can provide sparkling results in most weather. We communicate with you when temperatures are too cold to get your cleaning rescheduled.

What is Pure Water Technology?

Pure Water Technology is ladder less window cleaning services using de-ionized(DI)/purified water technology via a water fed pole system. With the DI process, impurities in ordinary tap water are completely removed and the water becomes an aggressive cleaning agent, without the use of detergents or chemicals. Purified water is pumped through specially designed extension poles with high tech brush heads that work together to clean your windows up to eight stories high - right from the ground!

This is great for OSI Certified and 'Green' properties, as it eliminates your risk of liability from ladders or staging equipment. You will enjoy sparkling windows from pure, environmentally friendly, de-ionized water that will not leave any residue or streaks. This tool is not applicable on heavily soiled windows and works better with quarterly routine cleanings for best results.

Window Cleaning Tips

  • sponge cleaning window

Tip #1 - Just Say "NO" to Abrasive Nylon Pads

Abrasive nylon scrub pads... Like the ones found on the back of many household dishwashing sponges, will scratch window glass. The fact is, window glass is much softer than glass manufactured for beverage containers. Specialized nylon, fine grade steel wool, and glass scrapers are the professional window cleaner's choice to safely remove stickers, decals and other hard to remove debris from window glass. So, if you're thinking about using that sponge to clean your window...
Just say "NO" to abrasive nylon pads!

  • Tip # 2 - Do Not Use Razor Blades on Dry Glass

A common and costly mistake we see is window glass scratched from improper razor blade use. To remove decals, tape and paint, window glass MUST Be lubricated BEFORE using a razor. Typically, most professional window cleaners use soap and water to lubricate glass which helps minimize the occurrence of scratches. It's also important to note that razor blades can not be used on 'Treated Glass Surfaces', tinted or mirrored window glass, and special care must be given when working on 'Tempered Glass', heat strengthened glass common in doors and other high-impact areas.

  • painting windowsills

Tip # 3 - Painting? - Cover Windows With Plastic

You can easily prevent the need to remove paint from windows by covering, or having your painting contractor, cover your interior and exterior glass in plastic. Paints and stains are corrosive to glass and if left long enough on window glass, can cause permanent staining.

Also, 'hard water stains' can occur immediately after your building's exterior is painted or stained. Hard water stains are caused by rain water running over a prefabricated surface, leaching hard minerals and acids from that surface, and depositing them on windows below. In the case of new paint, damaging stains can occur immediately after the first rainfall.

The need for a complete exterior window cleaning is a must to prevent glass degradation. The use of proper window cleaning techniques will neutralize the P.H. of the glass and effectively stop the corrosive property of hard water stains caused by new paint.

  • Tip # 4 - Rearrange Sprinklers

Rearrange your sprinkler systems so 'tap water' does not wet windows. Tap water contains calcium and other hard minerals and will, over time, etch exterior window glass. Calcium salts from tap water can be removed through the proper use of restoration chemicals, applicators and techniques.

Although, once in a great while, I've found these techniques and chemicals to be ineffective. In that case, the problem stain has actually changed the molecular structure of the glass, and glass refinishing or replacement may be needed.

If your sprinklers are wetting your windows... rearrange them!

  • clock schedule window cleaning

Tip # 5 - The Importance of Routine Window Cleaning

Window glass can become permanently stained from hard water deposits caused by rain water and new paint. All of these factors can cause permanent damage to glass: acid rain, salt water spray, oxidization, airborne pollutants, over spray, rust, and calcium salts.

Window Glass is porous. And, if you understand that its surface is filled with 'Peaks and Valleys', then it's easy to recognize these valleys easily capture and trap airborne debris that will diminish glass integrity. To protect your glass investment, we recommend no-less-than 2 window cleanings per year.

Clean glass also helps the 'R-Value' of thermal pane windows. The R-Value is a measure of resistance to heat gain or loss. Regardless of your glass type, a clean window allows the glass to better regulate the effects of exterior weather, which can produce greater efficiency and REDUCE your monthly heating and cooling costs!
